Scholarship Spotlight
YOUNG SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Program Experience

The Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program is a selective 5-year pre-college scholarship for high-performing 7th grade students with financial need. It provides comprehensive academic and college advising, as well as financial support for school, Cooke-sponsored summer programs, internships, and other learning enrichment opportunities. Each Young Scholar is assigned an on-staff educational adviser who works closely with the student and his or her family, individually and as part of a scholar community. Educational advisers support Young Scholars to maximize high school experiences and go on to thrive at the nation’s top-performing colleges. Our programming and support may include:
·         Identifying an appropriately rigorous high school
·         Engaging in four-year planning and goal-setting
·         Funding for academic and extracurricular opportunities, such as music and art lessons, supplemental academic classes, and technology
·         Annual summer programs, including two required Young Scholar summer programs
·         Year-round Young Scholar community programming
·         Networking opportunities with a high-achieving peer community

Center for Bright Kids Accelerated Residential Summer Programs
at the University of Colorado Boulder

CBK Summer registration begins in late January! Check out course titles now, and watch for the application to go live as the month draws to a close - courses fill very quickly, so early application is advised. Eligibility is based on qualifying WATS scores, or on a portfolio admission process. CBK Summer Programs are based on depth rather than breadth - acceleration rather than enrichment, and are fully residential to support what we know about the power of living and learning communities for very bright and gifted students. Courses are offered across the curriculum, but students take only one course for the duration of the program.
Rising 4th-6th graders participate in SHINE, July 29-August 4
Rising 6th-8th graders participate in GLOW, June 10-23
Rising 8th-12th graders participate in The Luminary Project, July 1-23
If you would like to receive a catalogue in the mail, please email cbk@centerforbrightkids.org with your postal address so that you receive one in late January!
